Fire and smoke move very fast. Even when the alarm wakes you up, you have very little time to escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many brands of smoke alarms, but they all fall under three catagories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ionization<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Sound more quickly when a flaming, fast moving fire occurs.<\/li><li><strong>Photoelectric<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Quicker at sensing smoldering, smoky fires.<\/li><li><strong>Combination (dual sensor)<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Combination ionization and photoelectric in one unit.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Care of Units<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to install alarms outside sleeping areas and one on each floor of your home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Install on wall 12 inches below the ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to test (Push to Test Button) every month!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to replace batteries in the Spring and Fall each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to replace all alarms after seven years of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carbon Monoxide Alarms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms save lives.
